We always set responseType to blob, which doesn't seem right. Thats definitely what we want to do, but it sounds like responseText is incorrectly being accessed somehow instead of the general response type. Google Canary is a version of the Chrome browser which lets you experiment and test the raw browser, and is made for developers who wish to experience the untested versions of Chrome. For developers looking to experience the latest updates of the Alpha version of Chrome, Google Canary is what they need.
[German]Google’s developers have released the Chrome Browser in version 83 on 19 May 2020. The browser update now automatically uses DNS-over-HTTPS. The update also closes 83 security holes of earlier versions.
Changes and new features in Chrome 83
The version 82 of the browser was skipped because of the coronavirus epidemic and the resulting limitations. The changes in Chrome 83 were announced by the developers for the desktop in this blog post.
Secure DNS and DNS-over-HTTPS
With Chrome 83, Google is launching Secure DNS, a feature that builds on a secure DNS protocol called DNS-over-HTTPS (DoH) to improve security and privacy when surfing the Internet. Chrome 83 automatically uses DNS-over-HTTPS if the current DNS provider supports it.
Alternatively, users can of course manually specify a specific DNS provider. The Secure DNS settings can be specified using the options in the screen above. Google provides a detailed explanation of this topic in this blog post.
Other changes
Besides DoH, Google has introduced some other changes in version 83 of the browser. Venturebeat lists these in this article.
- Cookie changes: Users can choose whether and how cookies from the visited websites are used. It is now possible to block third-party cookies in regular and incognito mode. It is also possible to block all cookies on some or all websites.
- Website settings: The controls for managing settings are now divided into two different sections. This should help to find the most sensitive website permissions (access to location, camera or microphone and notifications) and the most recent permission activity faster.
- Delete browser data: Since many people regularly delete their browsing history, it is now located at the top of the Privacy and Security section.
Google also has positioned the Sync Controls section (formerly called People) at the top of the Chrome settings. These controls allow users to control what data is shared with Google, stored on their Google Account, and synced across all devices. An overview of the new features for developers can be found in this blog post.
The Google Chrome Release Blog states that a number of vulnerabilities (38 in number) have been fixed in Chrome 83.0.4103.61. Meanwhile Chrome 83.0.4103.76 is already available – a list of changes is available in the change log. For Android, Chrome 83.0.4103.60 was released according to this post.

Google has released Google Chrome 83 for all supported platforms after the company decided to skip version 82 altogether and ship this new update earlier than anticipated.
Just as expected since Google Chrome just directly from version 81 to version 83, the new release is massive and comes with major improvements in key areas.
First of all, it’s the new tab groups feature that Google itself announced recently and which allows us to better organize the active tabs in the browsers. With this new feature, you can create tab groups with different names and colors all by simply right-clicking them, with a future update to also come with options to collapse groups and thus keep the tab bar cleaner.
Today’s update also includes a redesigned UI for the privacy and security settings in the desktop version of Google Chrome, as Google wants to make it more straightforward for users to configure the browser.
Cookies, site settings, and clearing the browsing data have all received further polishing, with some options re-arranged in the screen for a more intuitive approach.
Important security patches
There’s also a new puzzle icon in the top bar, which essentially provides you with more details on what information browsers access when loading a website. And of course, there are options to manage extensions and control what data they read.
Chrome 83 Mac Free
Google Chrome 83 is also the first version of the browser that blocks third-party cookies in Incognito mode, but of course, users are allowed to enable them for specific websites with just a click on the dedicated icon in the address bar.
Google Chrome 83 Download Mac
There are no less than 38 security fixes in this new Chrome update, out of which no less than 4 have been given a high severity rating. Google has paid thousands of dollars in bounties for resolving security flaws in this version of the browser, including no less than $20,000 for a use after free bug in the reader mode discovered by researcher Woojin Oh.
All the aforementioned features are part of a slow rollout, which means Google is gradually enabling them for Chrome 83 users.
